Raising Resilient Youth in Faith-Based Communities Training Sessions

The Society for the Prevention of Teen Suicide (SPTS), in collaboration with NJ4S, provides specialized training for faith leaders and community members in New Jersey to address youth suicide prevention. Faith leaders will explore best practices, current policies, and foundational principles of suicide prevention. Additionally, they will discuss effective strategies for applying these practices within their communities, identifying areas that need support and sharing insights to keep youth safe.

Community members can participate in the virtual course, "Raising Resilient Youth," designed to equip them with actionable knowledge about recognizing warning signs and protective factors. This training also emphasizes the importance of fostering open and safe conversations with young people to better support their mental health needs.

Kalisha Smith, LCSW, Clinical Director at SPTS, leads the virtual training for community members. The initiative is made possible through funding provided by the New Jersey Department of Children and Families and includes accessible registration links and QR codes for easy enrollment.

The overarching goal is to empower both faith leaders and community members with the tools and knowledge needed to build resilient communities where youth can thrive safely and with strong support systems.
