Each summer, young camp members from the Asbury Park Recreation program participate in full day, week-long band intensives at Lakehouse Music Academy. The campers choose songs that they want to learn and perform them at a concert at the end of the week. This camp is made possible through funding from the Irene A. Van Deusen Fund of the Community Foundation of New Jersey. Ms. Van Deusen passed away in 2006 leaving a significant portion of her estate to the Community Foundation specifically to “assist in the development and encouragement of young artists and musicians and encourage individuals to volunteer in their communities.” We are grateful for her contribution.

Asbury Park Music Foundation
All of the programs APMF funds provide children with life-changing skills, opportunities for collaboration in bands, empowerment through education, and engaging in positive experiences.
Lakehouse Music Academy
Lakehouse Music Academy (LHMA) is a progressive music school, featuring group performances and individual lessons. Our team employs various teaching methods built around each student’s particular needs. We aim to build a community where any musician, regardless of age, experience, and musical taste, can feel at home.
Asbury Park Recreation Department
The purpose of the Asbury Park Recreation Department is to provide quality recreational programs for the youth of our community and to support and enhance existing programs being conducted by recreational agencies within the City.
