Ocean Monmouth Health Alliance is a cancer and chronic disease coalition focused on increasing the quality and years of healthy life for Monmouth and Ocean County residents at risk through evidence-based policy, environment and system changes aimed at education, prevention and access to treatment.
The OMHA received grant funding from the Office of Cancer Control and Prevention, which is under the Chronic Disease Prevention and Control Unit at the Division of Family Health Services – NJ Department of Health. Its mission is to prevent premature death and disability from chronic disease such as cancer, to understand the risk factors of chronic disease and to promote healthy behaviors.
Susan Sanna and Deb Levinson reviewed the purpose of the newly funded regional chronic disease coalitions, which is to implement evidence/practice based cancer prevention and control programs to reduce morbidity, mortality and health disparities.
