Do you know we live alongside Revolutionary history? Learn more during our celebration of America's 250th birthday featuring lectures, living history demonstrations, music, and interactive events for all ages that will show that history can be both meaningful and fun!
All programs are free and open to the public; no library card is necessary,
though some programs require registration.
These programs are part of Monmouth County's Monmouth NJ 250 Initiative.
As indicated, some programs are funded by a grant from the New Jersey State Library’s REV 250: Examining the Semiquincentennial through a Jersey Lens.
Hybrid Book Discussions:
- Jan 22: 1776 by David McCullough
- Apr 16: Founding Mothers by Cokie Roberts
- Jul 16: You Never Forget Your First by Alexis Coe
Featured Programs (Feb–Oct 2026):
- Colonial dance workshops, historical lectures on figures like Joshua Huddy and Colonel Tye, George Washington appearances, and music programs.
- Topics include Black and Indigenous roles in the Revolution, Molly Pitcher, Battle of Monmouth, and more.
- Colonial Kids Programs: Activities for grades K and up, such as “A Child’s Life” and “Pastimes and Play.”
Special Events:
- Virtual lectures like Historically Speaking and Rebellion in the Crossroads.
- Concerts such as Revolution in Harmony in June–August.
